Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum agrees to a three-year, $100 million extension with the ballclub. McCollum’s agent , Excel Sports’ Sam Goldfeder told ESPN that the deal extends his current deal to five years and $157 million.
With Damian Lillard inking a four-year, $196 million deal earlier this summer, the Blazers now have backcourt locked up into the mid 2020’s.
McCollum played in 70 games last season and averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest and has increased that output in the playoffs over the last two campaigns to 25.3 and 24.7 ppg, respectively. He has been playing at a borderline All-Star level for the past few seasons , winning the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award in 2016, and has been the team’s second best player in the post-LaMarcus Aldridge era.
McCollum’s deal will go into effect at the start of the 2021-22 season
