In a surprising move, Clark-Atlanta announced a parting of the ways with head football coach Teddy Keaton.
A statement from CAU Director of Athletics, Dr. Jerel Drew reads in part, “On behalf of Clark Atlanta University (CAU), I announce the departure of Coach Teddy Keaton, CAU Head Football Coach, who joined us in December 2023. His tenure included a remarkable 7-3-1 season in 2024, culminating in a championship appearance. We extend our gratitude to Coach Keaton for his leadership and contribution to our football program. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
In his two seasons at CAU, Coach Keaton has a 10-10-1 overall record and 8-8 within the confines of SIAC play. In Keaton’s first season, in 2024, he transformed a team that was 0-10 just the previous year, into a team that was in the SIAC Championship Game, although they were defeated 53-25 by Miles College.
This past season the Panthers went 3-7 and 2-6 in the SIAC.
Dr. Drew stated that more information regarding the future of the football program would be disseminated in the coming days.
