Crypto group claims responsibility for bizarre string of sex toy tossings at WNBA games

A cryptocurrency group has taken credit for a series of events that took place over more than a week in which green sex toys were tossed onto the court at multiple WNBA games.

A spokesperson for the group behind a meme coin called Green Dildo Coin, speaking to, USA Today on Thursday said the six events in question were called “pranks” by the group. The “sensitive nature of the issue”

That same day a pair of sex toys found their way onto the court at a game between the Atlanta Dream and the Chicago Sky.

The lighthearted meme coin was launched on July 28 as a response to the “toxic environment” that the group feels has permeated the cryptocurrency space. According to text messages obtained by USA Today, the sex toy tossing was a coordinated effort to promote their coin” ‘s launch.

The spokesperson said the promotional stunt was not meant to disrespect the game nor cause harm to anyone.

We didn’t do this because like we dislike women’s sports or, like, some of the narratives that are trending right now are ridiculous,” he said. “Creating disruption at games is like, it happens in every single sport, right? We’ve seen it in the NFL, we’ve seen it in hockey, you know, . . . fans doing random things to more or less create attention.

“We knew that in order to get a voice in the space … we had to go out and do some viral stunts to save us from having to pay that influencer cabal, sacrifice our souls and the fate of the project, more or less.”

Two people have been arrested, so far, in connection with these dildo chucking incidents- one individual linked to the first occurrence that took place at the Valkyries-Dream game. An 18-year-old was taken into custody for tossing a sex toy at a Phoenix Mercury game. The toy struck a fan in the stands who was taking in the game with his 9-year-old niece.

Other suspects are still being identified.
