The Hawks have made another key signing ahead of the 2020/21 Hungry Jack’s NBL season, with emerging star Dan Grida committing to the club for a further two years.
Grida hasn’t missed a game for The Hawks since joining the team in 2018 and is set to play a key role in the new era of the club.
Discovered at the NBL Next Gen Camp, Grida was recruited by The Hawks and received a call-up for the Boomers last year. He is currently recovering from an ACL injury he suffered at the end of last season.
The 22-year-old forward is poised to make a big impact for The Hawks in the coming seasons as they build a roster to achieve sustained success.
Hawks Head Coach Brian Goorjian said: “We are delighted to have Dan return to The Hawks for the next two seasons. He is a tremendous young talent and an even better person, making him someone that fits into the culture we are building.
“With Dan, Emmett Naar and Deng Deng committed for next season, we are well on our way to constructing a team that The Hawks fans can be proud of on and off the court.”
Grida said: “I’m super keen to be under ‘Goorj’ and that was a massive reason for me coming back to The Hawks.
“Everything I have seen about Goorj is he makes everyone he coaches better and that’s really where I’m at right now. I want to become the best player I can be, and I think he is the best guy for me to go to.
“I think I’m going to be back in January, so with the season being pushed back it actually works better for me. It (the recovery from his ACL injury) has gone really well with no hiccups yet.”
