Apparently going to the NBA finals in your first season and being first in the Eastern Conference in your second season does little in the way of job security. Ask David Blatt, who amongst his many coaching achievements can now add former head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Blatt was shown the door today despite the success, amid reports of growing unrest in the Cavaliers’ locker room ( I wonder who could be the source of that?).
Speaking through his agency, Priority Sports”, Blatt had this to say:
“I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers,” Blatt said in a statement released by his agency, Priority Sports. “I’d like to thank Dan Gilbert and David Griffin for giving me this opportunity and am honored to have worked with an amazing group of players from LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love through our entire roster.”
Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski has reported assistant Coach Tyronn Lue has agreed to a 3 year deal to assume the Cavs’ head spot.
