Diamond Johnson continues to get recognition as her on-court exploits this season have earned the Norfolk State graduate guard a spot 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of Year Midseason Watchlist.
The Watchlist comprises players from 15 teams and 10 conferences. The MEAC was one of five conferences that featured two players on the list, along with the A-10, Summit League, Missouri Valley, and the Mountain West.
Johnson paces the MEAC in scoring, averaging 18.6 points per contest, topping 20 or more points eight times on the season, including a season-high 32 points against Longwood on November 7. Amongst the honors Johnson has received this season includes being named MEAC Player of the Week Five, HBCU + Women’s Basketball Player of the Week two times, USBWA Player of the Week, and most recently named BOXTOROW National HBCU Player of the Week.
