Kennesaw State has lurched to a 1-8 mark, following a 43-35 double overtime loss to UTEP,leading to them showing head coach Brian Bohannon, who was the only coach in the history ofthe program, the door. With Bohannon’s departure, Kennesaw State joins the growing list of coaches that are in the market for a new head coach.
As with any head coaching vacancy, speculation often runs rampant as various names arebantered about as possible viable replacements for a given opening. Pete Nakos of on3sports referenced numerous coaches that could be candidates to be the Owls’ next headman. Nakos then said on X that Tennessee State head coach Eddie George is a name “to keep an eye on.”
Coach George is in his fourth year at the helm of the Tennessee State program and has complied a 22-21 record with the Tigers. TSU is currently 7-3 this year, their best mark since going 7-4 in 2016 and are currently tied for second in the Big South-OVC.
The Tennessean’s Mike Organ reported that George signed a year contract in 2021 that pays him $400,000 per year. This is more than the 376,000 KSU was paying Bohannon.
