Eriq George enters the transfer portal

The son of football legend Eddie George, Eriq George, has entered the transfer portal.

The younger George said, in part, in a post on X earlier this week announcing his decision,” The lessons I have learned over the past two years have not only helped me develop as a football player but also as a man. I appreciate the faculty and staff who have guided me in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications. I want to thank my coaches for giving me insight, not only on the field but off th field, and being mentors to me.

To my teammates, I love each and every one of you. The bonds we built can never be severed. Through the ups and the downs, we stuck by each other and weathered the storm. What we accomplished at Tennessee State, not many people can say they have done. I am extremely proud to call you my brothers and champions. “

The Montgomery Bell Academy ( Nashville, TN) product in his sophomore season, recorded 52 solo tackles ( 28 solo, 24 assisted), 12 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. George was named All-Big South-OVC Second Team.

Per his X account, George already has a pair of offers- one from Appalachian State, and to no surprise, Bowling Green, where his father recently accepted the head coach position
