Florida A&M men’s basketball signed two during the early signing period, one being guard Kjei Parker out of Winter Haven High School.

“I’m elated over Kjei’s decision to further his academic and basketball endeavors at FAMU,” said Head Coach Robert McCullum. “I couldn’t be more excited about adding Kjei to our program. In an era where fewer high school players are receiving Division I scholarship offers because of the transfer portal, Kjei is simply too talented to pass on.

“We’ve been fortunate to have a couple of outstanding freshmen players in our tenure at FAMU; MJ Randolph, 2018-19 MEAC Freshman of The Year, and Jalen Speer, who averaged 11 points per game as a freshman and was MEAC runner-up for Freshman of The Year in 2020-21. Kjei is as ready to play as MJ and Jalen were as freshmen. In addition, he has an opportunity to come in, having played an integral role on two state championship teams.”

Kjei transferred to Winter Haven High School for his senior year after helping to lead Bartow High School to the 2020-21 6-A State Championship as a sophomore averaging 11.5 points per game as a starter. He averaged 17 points, 2.3 assists, and 4 rebounds as a junior. Kjei’s Winter Haven team is expected to contend for the Class 7-A State Championship.
