Michael Jordan’s game-worn 1998 NBA Finals Game 3 jersey sold for a RECORD $12.26 MILLION at JOOPITER

Michael Jordan has done it again.

Jordan’s game-worn jersey from Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold for a staggering $12.26 million through JOOPITER, setting a new record for the most expensive game-worn NBA jersey ever sold at auction.

The white No. 23 Chicago Bulls jersey was worn by Jordan on June 7, 1998, when Chicago dominated the Utah Jazz 96–54 at the United Center to take a 2–1 lead in the Finals.

The game was part of Jordan’s legendary final championship season with the Bulls — the season that became known as “The Last Dance.”

$12.26 MILLION FOR A PIECE OF HISTORY

The JOOPITER sale surpassed the previous record for a Jordan jersey: the red jersey Jordan wore during Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, which sold for $10.091 million at Sotheby’s in 2022.

That means Michael Jordan now holds the two highest public auction sales for NBA game-worn jerseys.

The Game 3 jersey was estimated by JOOPITER to sell for between $10 million and $15 million.

The final price included the buyer’s premium. The auction reportedly received one irrevocable bid before closing.

WHAT MAKES THE JERSEY SO SIGNIFICANT?

This wasn’t just another regular-season Jordan jersey.

It came from the 1998 NBA Finals, Jordan’s sixth and final championship season with Chicago.

On that night, Jordan finished with:

Finals SeriesBulls led 2-1

Chicago would eventually defeat Utah 4–2, giving Jordan his sixth NBA championship and sixth Finals MVP.

The jersey also carries the 1998 NBA Finals patch, further connecting it to one of the most recognizable championship runs in sports history.

🐐 THE JORDAN COLLECTIBLES MARKET IS STILL DIFFERENT

Nearly three decades after Jordan’s final championship with the Bulls, pieces connected to his career continue to command enormous prices.

This latest sale pushed Jordan’s own memorabilia record from approximately $10.1 million to $12.26 million.

And while $12.26 million is the record for an NBA game-worn jersey, it is not the record for the most expensive game-worn sports jersey overall.

That mark belongs to Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series jersey, which sold for $24.12 million in 2024.

Still, the latest Jordan sale provides another remarkable example of the enduring value attached to memorabilia from the Bulls’ championship era.

The Last Dance isn’t going anywhere.
