FIBA News: Poland gets second exhibition win

Poland closed out its pre-competition exhibitions with a 87-76 win over Georgia.

Michal Michalak led Poland, knocking down 6 from downtown en route to a team-high 22 points.

Poland will compete in Group D of the 2022 Eurobasket in Prague, along with host nation the Czech Republic, Serbia, Israel, Finland and the Netherlands, all with the goal of securing a berth in the the elimination round in Berlin.

Poland will jump into Group E play for Eurbasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers with a home matchup against Croatia and a road game versus Austria.

Tornike Shengelia poured in 27 points in a losing effort on a scorching 9/10 from the floor. Sandro Mamukelashvili of the Milwaukee Bucks chipped in with 9 points, including a highlight reel dunk, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

It was a rough stretch for Georgia, not only losing all three of their contests in Athens but never got off the schneid, losing all seven of their friendly matchups. Georgia will lick their proverbial wounds as theu prepare to hosts Group A of Eurobasket play in the capital city of Tbilisi, where Montenegro, Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria and Spain will come calling. The Georgians will also take part in Group L of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers , they will host the Netherlands before heading to the boot-shaped nation to take on Italy.
