Fisk women’s hoops concludes regular season 2nd place in theGCAC

Fisk University Women’s Basketball is heading into the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) tournament as the #2 seed after an impressive season, finishing as the Runner-Up for the GCAC regular season conference play. Another modern-day first for Fisk Women’s Basketball. 

To be held on the campus of Tougaloo College, the single-elimination tournament tips off on Thursday, February 23, at 12p CST. The tournament field is comprised of the top eight teams in the conference, seeded according to their won-lost records. 


#1 Rust College secured the top seed with a record of 12-2, while #2 Fisk earned the second seed with an 11-3 record. The #3 spot belongs to Philander Smith, who also finished with an 11-3 record but fell behind Fisk in the tiebreaker ruling. The Panthers will face off against the tournament’s host school, #6 Tougaloo. Wiley College comes in as the #4 seed (7-7), and they will battle #5 Dillard (6-8). Finally, #7 Oakwood (3-11) will take on #2 Fisk in the first round.
