Former HBCU track athlete headed to the Olympics

Former Johnson C. Smith sprinter Danielle Williams can claim several titles – CIAA Champion, NCAA Champion, 2020 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Track & Field Hall of Famer- and now she can call herself an Olympian. 

Williams qualified for the Paris games for Team Jamaica in the 100-meter hurdles after running a 12.53 in the finals at the team’s trials this weekend. 

Following a decorated collegiate career at JCSU in which over two years she took home 9 NCAA titles ( 8 individual, 1 relay), 13 CIAA championships, garnered All-America honors 13 times, and on three occasions named either USTFCCCA National Women’s Indoor Track or Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. 

Since leaving college Williams’ includes being a World Cup winner, Commonwealth Games Silver medalist, a Diamond League Final winner as well as a 2-time World Champion. 

The Olympic games commence on July 26 in Paris France.
