Friday morning gambling will hold a press conference to introduce their new head football crack, Hue Jackson , who will replace Broderick Fobbs who, after eight seasons, was let go before the Bayou Classic.
Jackson, who most recently served as offensive coordinator on the staff of first-year Tennessee State head coach Eddie George, brings a great deal of NFL coaching experience, including being the head coach of Raiders and Browns. He has also been assistant coach with the Bengals, Raiders, the former Washington Redskins, Ravens and Falcons.
The hire represents a departure from the norm for Grambling as they have typically opted to lean toward who have had previous affiliation with the university /program. The Jackson hire could also be a boon for Grambling quarterback Noah Bodden, considering what Jackson was able to do with Geremy Hickbottom this past season, who ironically was GSU’s quarterback a season prior. Jackson was able to craft the offense around what Hickbottom could do and he enjoyed a fairly productive season, throwing for 1847 yards, and 12 touchdowns , while running for another 7 scores. His scheme also kept him within in his limits, which was shown by the mere four interceptions he threw on the season.
