COVID-19 causes changes to SWAC Basketball games

From the Southwestern Athletic Conference: The men’s basketball game scheduled between Prairie View A&M and Grambling State slated to be played on Monday, January 3 has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols with the PVAMU program. The men’s basketball game scheduled between Alcorn State and Jackson State slated to be played on Monday, January 3 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 5. These actions follow the guidelines and protocols set forth by the league and its Sports Administrators Committee and COVID-19 Advisory Committee.

From the Southwestern Athletic Conference BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State’s Tyesha Rudolph and Grambling State’s Alexus Holt for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during non-conference play this past week. There were three games scheduled for Wednesday’s Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s hoops action , but only one actually got take the court, with the Alabama A&M /Nicholls State and Alcorn State’s matchup with Texas both being cancelled due to the perniciousness of COVID-19. Grambling was the only SWAC team that remained in action and the Lady Tigers defeated New Orleans 61-49, to bring them to 3-8 on the season. Florida A&M v Illinois game cancelled

In shade resembling that awful flustercuck that was the year 2020, colleges basketball games are being cancelled. The Florida A&M men’s hoops teams were set to take on the Fighting Illinois of he University of Illinois, but due to COVID-19 issues within the Illini program, the contest was cancelled. Per Famu Athletics, the next game tips off SWAC play Monday January 3, 2022 when the Rattlers head to Daytona to take on the Wildcats of Bethune.
