According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Miami Heat have waived forward Rodney McGruder.
The move seems to be a cost-cutting one , as indicated by the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman.
Even if another team does claim him, McGruder is playoff ineligible. In his three seasons in the NBA, all with the Heat, the 6’4” guard has started 112 of the 161 games he has appeared in and averaged 6.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 23.6 minutes per contest. This season he was averaging 7.7.points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists but only shooting 40.7% from the floor.
