Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum appears to be the latest Jordan Brand athlete to be in line for his own signature shoe.
On a recent appearance on Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles’ Knuckleheads podcast, Tatum hinted at a coming signature shoe but did not provide anything in the way of when they could make their retail debut.
Since joining Jordan Brand in 2019 Tatum has primarily taken to the court in the flagship game shoes- the Air Jordan XXXIV, XXXV and XXXVI in a wide array of colourways, both general releases and PEs.
With the initial offering of a Tatum signature it will be imperative for Jordan Brand to put their best design foot forward. He will join the ranks of fellow Jordan Brand stable mates, Zion Williamson and Luka Doncic, who also have their own signature shoes. While the designs of their shoes are not dumpster juice, they are far from captivating , potentially relegating them to the realm of forgettable sihonettes at best and at worse sneakers that are future RTVs and clearance stores dead weight. This should obviously be the tract that Jordan Brand should avoid for the Tatum ( and the Luka and Zion lines going forward) signature line.
Time will tell if they can achieve that end.
