USC star guard JuJu Watkins will miss the remainder of the NCAA Tournament with a torn ACL.
The injury occurred with 4:43 left in the first quarter of the Lady Trojans matchup against Mississippi State. Watkins was driving to the basket when she went down in between a pair of MSU defenders. She grabbed her knee and appeared to be in a great deal of pain.
She had to be helped off the court as the crowd watched in dismayed silence.
There was nearly an immediate outpouring of support from sports luminaries and fans alike for the injured star who will be no worse than a top 3 pick whenever she enters the WNBA draft.
On the season JuJu Watkins was averaging 24.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest.
