TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Brett Sylve and Otis Odom each rushed for more than 100 yards and combined for four touchdowns to carry Kentucky State to a 42-35 win over Tuskegee on Saturday afternoon in at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
KSU (5-4, 3-2 SIAC) finished with 433 total yards including 371 rushing yards.
Sylve posted a game high 150 yards on the ground on 19 carries (7.9 avg) and Odom tallied five rushing attempts for 132 yards to average 26.4 yards per carry.
Odom handed the Thorobreds their first offensive touchdowns of the game courtesy of a 33-yard run to KSU a 14-7 advantage before using 59-yard score to respond and regain the lead, 21-14.
Sylve added runs from 3- and 16-yards out to account for KSU’s touchdowns in the second half to give the Thorobreds enough to hold off the Golden Tigers comback efforts.
Darrell Dorris Jr. earned eight total tackles, six solo, and two assisted while securing three tackles for a loss of nine yards. Ja’cione Fugate had one interception for 23 yards and secured three tackles. Jaylen Johnson forced one fumble, had two tackles for a loss of 21 yards, and acquired five total tackles.
Trevon Pope recovered a fumble in the endzone to put KSU on the board first, 7-0, to thwart TU’s opening drive.
Gerardo Baeza connected on a field goals of 34 yards as timed expired before halftim and added a 40 yard field goal to pad KSU’s lead, 34-28, in the fourth quarter.
Louis Williams, Jamaal Pritchett and Ivonte Patterson led TU (3-6, 2-3 SIAC) on offense which amassed 425 total yards.
Williams completed 23-of-32 pass attempts with one interception and two touchdowns.
Pritchett recorded a gam high 134 receiving yards on eight receptions with one touchdown. Jamal Couch finished with one touchdown with two receptions for 31 yards.
On defense, Kameron Tate posted a game high 11 tackles (7 solo) to lead the Golden Tigers.
