Kentucky State’s Laila Wheaton Earns 2026 SIAC Women’s Volleyball Preseason First-Team Honors

Kentucky State University junior middle blocker Laila Wheaton is entering the 2026 volleyball season with preseason recognition from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Wheaton has been named to the 2026 SIAC Women’s Volleyball Preseason First Team, placing her among the conference’s top returning players heading into the upcoming season.

The junior middle blocker will look to build on her previous contributions for the Thorobrettes as Kentucky State prepares for another competitive SIAC campaign.

Being selected to the preseason first team represents a strong vote of confidence from the conference and puts Wheaton among the players to watch throughout the 2026 season.

For Kentucky State, Wheaton’s recognition also provides an early spotlight on a player expected to play an important role as the Thorobrettes pursue success within the SIAC.
