The Lincoln University women’s basketball team fell short of a win, 66-43, to the Trojans of Virginia State University on Saturday afternoon in a road matchup. The loss moves the Lions to an 8-10 record on the season, 4-6 in the CIAA.

FIRST HALF
- Despite going up against the CIAA’s top ranked team, the LU Lions had a strong start to the contest.
- The Lions allow the Trojans to secure the first baskets of the contest before they took the lead with a shot by D’Ayzha Atkinson(Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti).
- Although VSU stayed close, LU fought hard to keep their lead throughout the first quarter, 17-15.
- Lincoln kept their energy going into the second quarter, but the Trojans took control of the contest in the final minutes of the half.
- Entering the locker room with a score of 29-26, the Lions did not trail too far behind the Trojans.
SECOND HALF
- In the third and fourth quarters, LU worked to stay in the game, but VSU turned up the heat, leaning on their home court advantage.
- Despite the hard-fought battle, the Lincoln Lions took a 66-43 loss.

- Equally matched and leading the Lions with 11 points each were Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch), D’Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic).
- Maya Madison Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) controlled the rebounds for Lincoln, securing 6 boards.
