Making A Difference: Keith Lee and Tyrese Haliburton Step Up for Gary Community After 9 Days Without Power

Gary, Indiana — As residents in Gary continue to endure the aftermath of a devastating storm that left thousands without electricity, Keith Lee and Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton are stepping in to help provide much-needed relief.

Residents across Northwest Indiana entered a ninth day without power Thursday, with many families dealing with spoiled food, extreme heat and difficulty accessing basic necessities. Power restoration in some parts of Gary is not expected until Tuesday, August 25.

Lee, who recently brought attention to Gary’s prolonged outage, is planning an event in the community to distribute food and essential supplies to residents affected by the crisis.

Haliburton has also joined the effort after learning about what Lee and his team were doing.

“Tyrese Haliburton found out what we was doing, and he matching our contributions.” ❤️

The gesture comes at a critical time for Gary residents. Local organizations and volunteers have already been providing meals, donated clothing and other resources as families navigate the extended outage.

Lee previously questioned why the situation in Gary had not received more national attention and said he wanted to help deliver meals and supplies to residents.

Now, with Haliburton matching the contributions, the effort is growing into a larger show of support for the Gary community.

For residents who have spent more than a week without electricity, the assistance comes at a crucial moment.

Sometimes the biggest assist doesn’t happen on the court. ❤️
