Man Dies After Jumping Inside University of Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

Authorities are investigating after a 51-year-old man died Monday morning following a fall inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at the University of Florida, according to local reports.

The incident occurred inside the stadium’s west concourse in Gainesville. According to investigators, University of Florida Police Department officers responded around 9:47 a.m. after receiving a report that a man had climbed onto a structural beam.

Officers attempted to speak with the man and persuade him to move to safety. Despite their efforts, authorities said he ultimately stepped off the ledge and fell to the concourse below.

Officers immediately began administering emergency aid. Alachua County Fire Rescue personnel also responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:05 a.m.

Authorities said the man had no known affiliation with the University of Florida. His identity has not been released as investigators work to notify his family.

The investigation remains ongoing.
