Mavericks Expected to Deny Knicks’ Request to Interview Jason Kidd

The unexpected firing of Tom Thibodeau after the their defeat at the hands of the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals has put the Knicks in the market for a new head coach.

Amongst the names bantered about as a potential replacement was Mavericks coach Jason Kidd. Considering the dust has still not settled for the franchise post-Luka Dončić trade, and Kyrie Irving potentially missing the upcoming season, it is certainly easy to conceive why Kidd would be intrigued by coaching the Knicks.

Dallas has slammed the door shut on New York poaching their head coach, as according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the Mavericks are expected to decline a Knicks request to speak with Kidd.

With Kidd apparently out of the mix, the Knicks also can’t look to pivot to former Villanova coach Jay Wright. Bondy adds that the two-time NCAA Champion coach is content in enjoying his retirement from coaching.
