Redshirt junior forward Tyree Corbett of Coppin State has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Cola-Cola, it was announced on Tuesday.
Corbett (F, 6-7, 200, r-Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a season high-tying 23 points in the Eagles’ 74-65 win over South Carolina State on Saturday in the conference opener for both teams. Defensively, Corbett grabbed a season-best 22 rebounds in 33 minutes of play to record his seventh double-double of the season.
Other Top Performers
Chad Venning (Morgan State) posted a career-high 17 points to go along with nine rebounds, two blocked shots and a pair of assists in 29 minutes off the bench at South Carolina State.
De’Torrion Ware (Morgan State) averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds in wins over Goucher College and South Carolina State. He finished with a game-high 22 points, including eight rebounds, five assists and a steal against Goucher, followed by 15 points and 11 rebounds at South Carolina State.
