Morgan State takes beatdown, 60-36 ,to Stephen F. Austin in Puerto Rico Clasico opener

Morgan State spent the Thanksgiving holiday taking part in the Puerto Rico Clasico tournament, as they played Stephen F. Austin in the opener on Thursday evening at Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
 
The Ladyjacks would score the game’s first five points and never looked back, as SFA handed Morgan State its first loss of the season, following a 60-36 defeat.
 
Stephen F. Austin (4-1) improved to 2-0 all-time against Morgan State. The Lady Bears, who had their school record winning streak to start a season snapped at six straight, fell to 6-1.
 
Kurstyn Harden came of the bench to score a game-high 16 points, while shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor and knocking down all four of her free throw attempts. Aiyanna Johnson added 15 points on 5-for-5 shooting, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, had four assists and three blocks for the Ladyjacks.
 
Morgan State was led by Charlene Shepherd, who finished with 12 points, while Ja’Niah Henson added nine points, four assists and three steals. Sunshine McCrae came off the bench to score eight points and pulled down four rebounds. Taylor Addison led the Lady Bears with five rebounds.
 
SFA shot 53.7 percent (22-of-41) for the game and was 12-of-18 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line. The Lady Bears shot 13-of-52 (25 percent) from the floor and connected on 8-of-14 (57 percent) from the charity stripe.
 
Morgan State will close out the tournament with a non-conference contest against Boston College. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. EST.
