NC Central’s Jada Tiggett named MEAC Rookie of the Week

North Carolina Central University freshman combo guard/forward Jada Tiggett was named the MEAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week after tallying a double-double in a road win at UNC Asheville, as announced by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Tiggett led the Eagles with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in the 65-63 road triumph over the Bulldogs on Monday for her first collegiate double-double. She also contributed 10 points and seven rebounds in a close game at UNC Greensboro last Thursday.
 
On the week, Tiggett averaged 12.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. She also shot 55.5 percent from the field in those two contests.
 
The Winchester, California, resident has scored in double figures in each of NCCU’s last three games and is now averaging 8.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game on the season.
 
Tiggett leads the MEAC with her average of 1.7 blocks per game.
 
NC Central will next play at UNC Wilmington on Thursday at 2 p.m.
