The Kobe Bryant signature line is preparing to enter a new era.
According to early information, Nike’s next Kobe signature basketball shoe will be called the Nike Kobe NXT, with the line expected to make its retail debut in Summer 2027. The launch marks more than just another signature sneaker—it represents a project that Kobe Bryant himself helped begin before his passing.
Nike Kobe Vice President and General Manager Dan Sunwoo recently underscored the significance of the upcoming model, saying:
“Kobe started this project. We’re committed to carrying it forward to the finish. We’re working on launching the first unfinished project we started with Kobe.”
Those comments suggest the Kobe NXT is more than a routine successor to the Kobe Protro series. Instead, it appears to be the realization of a vision Bryant played a role in creating, making it one of the most anticipated basketball footwear releases on Nike’s upcoming calendar.

Current information indicates the line will launch with two different offerings:

- Nike Kobe NXT 1.0 — $210 (multiple colorways expected)
The premium-priced Prototype is expected to showcase the pinnacle of Nike Basketball innovation and performance technology, while the standard Kobe NXT 1.0 will serve as the primary retail model available in a variety of colorways.
A new chapter after the Protro era
Since Nike resumed production of Kobe signature sneakers under the Protro banner, the line has remained one of the most sought-after collections in basketball and sneaker culture. Classic silhouettes such as the Kobe 4, Kobe 5, Kobe 6, Kobe 8, and Kobe 9 have consistently generated high demand through limited releases and player exclusives.
