Reagan Jackson had 22 points, leading three Lady Panthers in double-figures as Clark Atlanta ended 2018 with a 76-65 win over Spring Hill College Monday in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
The win was the second in five games for Clark Atlanta (2-11, 1-4 SIAC) and their first conference win of the season. Spring Hill drops to 5-7 overall, 1-2 in conference play.
The Lady Panthers jumped out fast, taking an early lead in the first quarter. But Spring Hill ended the period with a 9-4 run to take a 17-13 lead after the first quarter.
CAU fought back, reclaiming the lead and extending it to nine points after Reyana Miller’s 3-pointer with 1:47 left before halftime giving CAU a 35-29 lead.
The Lady Badgers cut the lead to four just before halftime, but Clark Atlanta poured it on the second half. Jackson scored 14-second half points as the Lady Panthers never lost the lead, extending it to as many as twelve after I’Nayah Moore’s layup gave them a 70-58 advantage late in the half.
Jackson had 22 points, three rebounds and an assist for the Lady Panthers, while Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell – who scored 14 in the first half – finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Miller also had 18 points, a team-high nine rebounds, and three assists. Moore also had nine rebounds while adding six points and Jalisa Jones finished with seven rebounds and seven assists.
Spring Hill was led by Tiffany Valentine’s 24 points and 16 rebounds.
The Lady Panthers now hit the road, going to Charlotte, N.C. Wednesday to take on Johnson C. Smith University. The Lady Panthers then head to Lane College on Saturday and to LeMoyne-Owen on Monday.
