SIAC Basketball Week 2 Players of the Week

From the SIAC :

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.

For women, Ay’Anna Bey (Benedict) was named Player of the Week, while Taylor Christmas (Benedict) earned Newcomer of the Week.

For men, Raymon Adams (Central State) was named Player of the Week, while K.J. Doucet (Fort Valley State) earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.

Women’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ay’Anna Bey, Benedict
Forward  |  Senior  |  Blackwood, NJ

In 2 games, Bey averaged 16.5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.5 steals, as Benedict went 1-1. Had 22 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals in 82-72 victory over Edward Waters.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Taylor Christmas, Benedict
Forward  |  Freshman  |  Decatur, Ga.

In 2 games, averaged 7.5 points, 4 rebounds as Benedict went 1-1 on the week. In 82-72 win over Edward Waters, scored season-high 13 points and season-high 7 rebounds.

Men’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Raymon Adams, Central State
Guard/Forward  |  Freshman   |  Nashville, TN

In CSU’s only game of the week, freshman Raymon Adams went 8 for 12 from the field and finished with 20 points along with five rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal in the Marauders’ 79-63 win over the University of the Virgin Islands.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– K.J. Doucet, Fort Valley State
Forward   |  Freshman  |  Austell, GA

Doucet had a solid trio of games last week where he averaged 15.0 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, 1.7 blocks per game and 1.3 steals per game where he made 18-of-37 from the field (.486) and 8-of-15 from the 3-point line (.533). Against Shorter, he posted 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, a block and an assist. Against UT-Tyler, he added 13 points, 2 blocks and 2 steals. At Texas A&M-Commerce, the Georgia native poured in 22 points on 9-of-11 from the field, 4-of-5 from the 3-point line, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
