SIAC names weekly Track and Field athletes

Tuesday the SIAC announced their weekly Track & Field honorees and it was an all-Benedict affair, as tiger athletes swept the honors, with Eilika Lane and Kyra Buffen being named on the women’s side. While Kevin Francis and Chase Ransom took home honors for the men.

Women’s Track and Field

Track Performer of the Week – Eilika Lane, Benedict College

Lane was the SIAC’s top women’s performer this week, running the fastest times in the 400 meters and the 400 meter hurdles. In the 400 meters, she ran 57.03, and 1:05.72 in the 400 meter hurdles.

Field Performer of the Week – Kyra Buffen, Benedict College

Over the weekend, Buffen set a personal best in the long jump, with a distance of 5.65 meters. It was the farthest jump over the weekend and it moved Buffen up to #2 in the SIAC for the long jump.

Men’s Track and Field

Track Performer of the Week – Kevin Francis, Benedict College

Francis set a new personal best in the 100 meter hurdles during this week’s meet, with a time of 15.12. The Freshman from Benedict also ran 55.69 in the 400 meter hurdles. Francis is ranked #1 in the SIAC for the 100 meter hurdles, and #2 in the 400 meter hurdles.

Field Performer of the Week – Chase Ransom, Benedict College

In last week’s meet, Chase Ransom set a personal best in the discus throw, with a throw of 44.39 meters (145 ft, 8 inches). Francis is now ranked #1 in the SIAC, in both the discus throw and shot put.
