South Carolina State improved to 7-2 overall, 3-0 in the MEAC under first-year head coach Chennis Berry. Meanwhile Howard fell to 4-6 and 1-2 in conference play.

Kwantre Harry and one a 47-yard return for a touchdown by Jarod Washington.
On the offensive side of the ball Bulldogs speed too much for Howard throughout the game with quarterback Eric Phoenix danced away from Bison defenders to rush for 27 yards in addition to a 16-of-26, 272-yard, three-touchdown passing day.
The big play was a 63-yard strike to Einaj Carter, who outran the coverage and had clear sailing into the end zone to give SCSU the lead for good at 13-7 with less than three minutes to go in the first half.
Carter finished with four (4) catches for 120-yards and a touchdown, while Justin Smith-Brown added four catches for 67-yards and Caden High with four for 44-yards.
The defense was spearhead by All-MEAC performer Aaron Smith with eight tackles (7) solo and one tackle for loss. Along with Kwantre Harry’s two interception he added six tackles and one tackle for loss.
