Amar’e Stoudemire has inked a deal with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball association.
Last week Stoudemire was in China, where he met with team officials and worked out. He has returned to join his team for training and media day activities.
The six-time NBA All-Star joins former NBAers Ty Lawson and Erick Green on the Sturgeons’ roster. The league all has other known names Lance Stephenson and Jeremy Lin, who ball for the Liaoning Flying Leopards and the Beijing Ducks, respectively.
In the 846 NBA games he participated in, the ninth overal pick in the 2002 NBA draft boasts career averages of 18.9 points and 7.8 rebounds. He played with Hapoel Jerusalem, where he helped the team win the Israeli Basketball League Cup in 2016 and the Israeli League Championship in 2017. He most recently played in the BIG3, where he was co-captain of Tri-State.
