Gunfire erupted at an Atlanta-area shopping center, forcing a lockdown and sparking renewed safety concerns among local businesses.
The incident occurred near DTLR during the release of the “Wolf Grey” Air Jordan 5 Wolf Grey. Witnesses reported shots ringing out, prompting a rapid response from local law enforcement, including uniformed officers and SWAT teams.
According to police, two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident, which allegedly stemmed from an attempted robbery. One person was injured, suffering a gunshot wound to the hand. Authorities confirmed the injury was not life-threatening.
The shooting has raised alarms among business owners in the area, particularly those operating near Stonecrest Mall. Many fear incidents like this could deter customers and hurt already fragile foot traffic.
Lisa Jefferson, owner of Sip and Frost Cake Bar located across from the mall, spoke to WSB-TV about the impact:
“[It’s] causing trouble that is going to affect everyone in the community. As I’m looking out my window, there are no cars in the mall parking lot, and that’s so sad. On a Saturday, knowing what happened at the mall, I’m not going to make a whole bunch of money today.”
What was meant to be a routine sneaker release instead turned into yet another example of how quickly things can escalate when hype, desperation, and poor decisions collide.
