Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: AZ Teen charged in attempted sneaker robbery

Nicole Winfree told FOX 10 Phoenix that since she and her son Brady moved to the Phoenix area from Ohio a few months ago that the transition has been a particularly difficult one for her son Brady.

Recent events have undoubtedly made that transition an even more arduous one.

Winfree said she dropped Brady off at Glendale’s Arrowhead Towne Center to hang out with some friends. However soon after dropping him off she got a call from the police saying that her son had been assaulted.

Brady was apparently in a department store with his friends when he was, without warning, attacked by another teen. The police report states that Brady was knocked to the ground, struck multiple times, and attempted to take Brady’s sneakers.

The teen was unsuccessful in his attempt to forcibly relieve young Brady of his footwear, but was able to flee the scene before police arrival. However, he was arrested on August 22.

Brady’s mom adds that the sneakers that served as the impetus for the assault was a pair of sneakers designed to look like a pair of Balenciaga and that “they weren’t even real.”

“I don’t know why people are so evil or why they would want to hurt my son,” Winfree said. “He wasn’t doing anything. He didn’t even know these people. This has destroyed him mentally. They could have really hurt my son over a fake pair of shoes.”

Brady suffered a severe concussion and multiple injuries to his face.
