Two Lawrence, Massachusetts teens are in police custody after they broke into a Springfield Street apartment to take high-end,collectible sneakers.
According to police Hermon Jackson, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile accomplice were arrested early Tuesday morning after officers were altered by neighbours about a commotion coming from a third floor apartment located at 130 Springfield Street.
A police report states that when officers arrived at the apartment building they observed both the door and door frame of the third-floor apartment had been damaged. Police knocks on the door went unanswered though movement inside the apartment could be heard. Officers thought someone was running out the back door and the teens were subsequently located in the rear of the building.
Some sneakers were located in a pillowcase and more sneakers were located back in the third-floor apartment, along with a crowbar. Police indicated that a 2014 Nissan Altima was found parked outside the building with the trunk and driver side door open. In the trunk even more Air Jordans were found and a gun was found in the car.
Apparently Jackson and his young cohort were attempting to steal the Air Jordan and Yeezy sneakers, police reports indicated. Among the items seized listed in a lengthy include 14 pairs of Air Jordan and Yeezy sneakers burglary tools, screwdrivers , a crowbar, and most disturbing, an AR-15 and ammunition.
Police say it is unclear if the AR was brought to the robbery or found in the apartment early Tuesday morning.
Both teens were charged with illegal possession of a firearm without a FID card, breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony, unlicensed possession of ammuniton, defacing a serial number of a firearm, illegal possession of burglary tools and illegal possession of a large capacity weapon. Bail was set for each teen at $25,000.
