Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Sneaker sale ends in robbery and gunplay

A Brooklyn Park, MN man who was looking to sell a pair of sneakers ended up dodging bullets.

According to the Brooklyn Park Police at approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 20 officers responded to a call of a robbery at 6200 block of 65th North Avenue.

The seller/victim indicated he’d made arrangements via an online platform to sell a pair of sneakers. When the buyer arrived at the meeting, they took the shoes and ran away.

The seller attempted to give chase but unbeknownst to him, the ”buyer” had an accomplice who appeared with a firearm and began shooting at the the victim, who ended up uninjured, according to the criminal complaint.

As a safety measure for those who engage in online transactions, police urge the use of the myriad of ”Safe Swap Spots”, located in many cities in Minnesota.
