Ben McLemore agrees to contract with Rockets

Free agent guard Ben McLemore has agreed to a partially guaranteed two-year deal with Houston Rockets, according to The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania. Since being taken seventh overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2013, the guard has occasional flashes, but has failed to live up to the expectations when he came out of Kansas ( too early). Last season he did not start any of the 19 games he appeared in and averaged a paltry 3.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in just 8.3 minutes per contest.

Rockets to meet with JaVale McGee

The Houston Rockets plan on meeting with free agent center JaVale McGee when free agency begins Sunday at 6 p.m according to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes. It may not garner the attention that some of the other free agent meetings and signings that will happen on Sunday but McGee is no slouch. The Houston Rockets may be looking to make major changes to their roster before next season but it seems that head coach Mike D’Antoni. The two sides may be close to agreeing on an extension. According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Saturday Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta removed the buyout language that ultimately proved to be a deal breaker in the last round contract discussions. D’Antoni ends extension talks with Rockets

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni has cut off contract extension talks with the club and will coach out the final season of his deal. D’Antoni signed a four-year deal back in 2016; the upcoming 2019-20 season is a team option. Charlotte Carroll of Sports Illustrated reported recently that D’Antoni relayed to management that he wanted to coach three more years and that he felt “energized.” In his three seasons in Houston, D’Antoni has compiled a regular season record of 173-73.
