Nassau County police arrested a Long Island man for allegedly stealing a pair of sneakers he had arranged to buy. According to detectives, the 20-year-old male victim made arrangements through Facebook marketplace to sell sneakers to Alexander Almonte. The two agreed to meet at a 7-Eleven located at 4420 Hempstead Turnpike. Once the meeting got going, as the seller/victim was showing Almonte, 20, the shoes, he grabbed them and ran southbound on Serita Drive, according ot police.
