Tennessee State women’s hoops spanked by Butler, 72-55

The Lady Tigers (2-3) had two players score in double figures, led by Gia Adams, who had 14 points. Ashley Malone added 10 points and two steals off of the bench and Saniah Parker added nine points and two steals. The Tennessee State men’s basketball team tasted defeat for the first time this season, falling on the road 57-44 to Southern Illinois on Thursday evening. The Ohio Valley Conference announced that Tennessee State sophomore guard Gia Adams was named its Player of the Week. In two games last week, against Fisk and Kansas City, the Jersey Village product averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in helping the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 record.
