Tennessee State Lady Tigers to round out non-conference schedule with UT Southern

The Tennessee State women’s basketball team will take the court one more time before Christmas break as they are set to host UT Southern tomorrow afternoon inside the Gentry Center. This will be TSU’s final non-conference game with OVC play will start December 28.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be just the second-ever matchup between TSU and UT Southern. The two schools last matched up 10 years ago when UTS was named Martin Methodist College. TSU won the lone matchup 92-61.

69: The number of points TSU scored in their last outing against Eastern Kentucky. The Lady Tigers did a nice job offensively as their 69 points set a new season high by 16 points. TSU is averaging 49.4 points per game.

44.3: The percentage that TSU shot from the floor against EKU, marking a new season high. The Lady Tigers finished 27-of-61, while also knocking down a season-high seven made threes on 19 attempts.

BACK IN ACTION: Saniah Parker returned to the court against EKU after missing the season’s first eight games and made an immediate impact coming off the bench. The junior guard logged 26 minutes and scored nine points, with four rebounds and three assists.

AIKENS DELIVERS: Graduate transfer Jordan Aikens had her best outing of the season against EKU as she was named the OVC Newcomer of the Week, becoming the third Lady Tiger to earn the honor this season. The Chicago native scored a season-high 15 points while finishing 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Aikens played just 18 minutes and shot 71.4 percent from the floor.
