Five years after its most recent release and seventeen years after its 2009 debut, Nike is rolling the Varsity Royal” Air Griffey Max 1 out for another retail run in 2026.
Just as with its predecessor, the 2026 iteration will feature a white leather foundational layer overlaid with an eye-catching varsity royal nubuck. A black Swoosh is present on the lateral toe box, with “NIKE” spelled out in large debossed letters on the ankle strap. Volt takes care of the Swooshes on the rear heel, front pull tab, on the 4 logo on the ankle strap and also makes an appearance on the lower lace loop.
Below the aforementioned upper resides a black accented, white midsole that houses heel and forefoot Air Max units as well as a branded black and varsity royal blue rubber outsole.
The “Varsity Royal” Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is scheduled to begin its tertiary trip around the retail March 6. They will carry a 180 USD sticker price in men’s sizing and 122 USD in grade school.
