Tuesday morning the SIAC announced their weekly basketball honorees. Here is who got it done on the SIAC hardwood last week:

For women, Tyashia Bostick (Spring Hill) was named Player of the Week, while Takya Bennett (LeMoyne-Owen) earned Newcomer of the Week.
For men, Elias Harden (Edward Waters) was named Player of the Week, while Tariq Shepherd (LeMoyne-Owen) earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Women’s Basketball
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tyashia Bostick, Spring Hill | Guard/Forward | RS Sophomore | Charleston, SC
Bostick scored 36 points against Lane last week, rising to the Badgers 4th highest scoring output in women’s history.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Takya Bennett, LeMoyne-Owen |Forward | Senior | Memphis, Tenn.
The Magicians went 2-1 in conference contests last week. In two conference wins against Central State and Kentucky State, Bennet was a top scorer for the Magicians last week posting 20 points and 14 rebounds against the Marauders and 12 points and four rebounds again the Thorobreds. She added 10 points and seven rebounds against Tuskegee.

Men’s Basketball
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Elias Harden, Edward Waters |Guard/Forward | Senior | East Point, Ga.
Harden posted 28 points, five rebounds in last week’s games versus Fort Lauderdale. He then followed up with a performance finishing with 19 points, five rebounds versus Morris and 29 points, four rebounds against Clark Atlanta.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Tariq Shepherd, LeMoyne-Owen |Guard | Freshman | Detroit, MI
In three wins last week, Shepherd averaged 16.6 points per game. The freshman guard was a top scorer in games against Tuskegee (12) Central State (13) and Kentucky State (25), respectively.
