BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State Bulldogs men’s basketball team continues its North Carolina leg of its three-game road trip as the Bulldogs make a trip to Winston-Salem State on Monday, Dec. 19 for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off from C.E. Gaines Center.

Last Time Out
The Bulldogs (4-9) improved to 2-0 in CIAA action Saturday after defeating Johnson C. Smith, 68-66 in Charlotte, N.C. BSU had two players score in double figures led by junior Mark Bradshaw (West Chester, PA) who recorded 15 points while sophomore Caleb Johnson (Baltimore, MD) added 10 points. BSU shot 40-percent from the field, including 17-of-24 (71-percent) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs got 37 points from the bench and score 15 points off of the Golden Bulls turnovers.
Scouting the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are ninth in the CIAA for scoring (71.8 ppg) and 12th for points allowed (76.2). Bowie State is third in the league with a free throw percentage of 70-percent. Bradshaw ranks sixth in the CIAA for scoring (14.6 ppg), he the conference leader in 3-point field goals (33), shooting 44-percent from the field. Defensively, sophomore Elijah Rantin (Baltimore, MD) is eighth in the league in blocked shots (0.8) and Johnson is eight in steals (1.7).
Last Time against Winston-Salem State
The last five matchups between Bowie State and Winston-Salem State has flipped back-and-forth with both teams splitting 2-2 but during the last outing, the Rams took a 69-62 decision over BSU on Jan. 31 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Since 2011, the Bulldogs have held a 7-6 record against Winston-Salem State but the Bulldogs are 1-5 on the road against the Rams.
A Look at the Rams
WSSU is 9-2 overall and 4-1 at home entering Monday’s game. The Rams (1-1 CIAA) are coming off a 70-67 loss to nationally ranked Virginia Union on Saturday. Three players tabbed double digits in scoring led by Jaylon Gibson who had 17 points and eight rebounds. Samage Teel and Jonathan Hicklin finished with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
The Rams have the number one defensive team in the league, allowing just 61.6 points per game. Scoring wise, WSSU is sixth (74.5 ppg). Gibson is seventh in the league for scoring (14.2 ppg) and fourth in rebounds (7.5).
Upcoming Schedule
Following the holiday break, the Bulldogs will host nationally ranked West Liberty on Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
