Prairie View will not renew Bubba McDowell’s contract

As with the same certitude that day follows night and the tax man will always come for his cut,the collegiate coaching carousel will never cease spinning.In the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the first domino has fallen with Prairie View A&Mannouncing that the contract of head coach Bubba McDowell would not be renewed.

“Coach McDowell’s commitment to helping our student-athletes succeed in life both personally and professionally is admirable and a true reflection of his character.”, said Prairie View athleticdirector Anton Goff. AD Goff also said the University’s focus will be securing a head coach whopossesses the vision and leadership capabilities to lift the program not only to the upper class ofthe SWAC, but FCS football as well.

.McDowell, 58, has served as the Panthers’ head coach since 2022, recording a 17-17 overall record and 14-9.

A national search for a new head coach will commence forthwith; in the meantime, assistant Ashton Green will serve as interim head coach.
