Tennessee State in position for OVC Tournament bye with two games to go

OPENING TIP: The final two games of the OVC schedule pits the TSU men’s basketball team at home to defend a 10-3 mark on the Gentry Center against Morehead State (Thursday) and Southern Indiana (Saturday). 

SERIES INFORMATION VS. MOREHEAD STATE: Thursday’s contest will be the 84th meeting between TSU and Morehead State. The Eagles hold a 49-38 series lead and have won the last nine matchups.

SERIES INFORMATION VS.SOUTHERN INDIANA: Saturday’s game marks the seventh all-time meeting between TSU and Southern Indiana, with the series tied 3-3.

TENNESSEE TECH BY THE NUMBERS:

3: The Tigers had four players score in double figures, led by Justus Jackson’s 19 points, followed by Harper II (11), Nkrumah (10), and Wood (9), showing a well-rounded offensive effort.

22: TSU’s reserves stepped up with 22 points off the bench, including Knute Wood’s efficient 9 points (3-4 from three) and Ahmir Langlais’ 6 points on 2-3 shooting, providing a much-needed spark.

32: The Tigers controlled the defensive boards, grabbing 32 defensive rebounds, with Travis Harper IIleading the way with 11 total rebounds, securing key possessions throughout the game.

64.3%: TSU came out firing, shooting an impressive 64.3% from the field (18-28) in the first half, including 30% from three-point range, giving them a strong start before Tennessee Tech’s second-half surge.

91.7%: TSU was nearly automatic from the free-throw line, hitting 91.7% (11-12) of their attempts, including a clutch 10-11 performance in the second half to keep the game close.
