Basketball success continues to be a companion of Joe Bryant Jr, even after leaving the friendly confines of Norfolk State University.
This week, the former Spartan great was named MVP of the Greek A2 Elite Basketball League.
In his first season with Psychikou Basketball Club, Bryant led the league in scoring, putting up 20.1 points per contest, with season high 39 coming against Mykonou, while adding 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He led the team to a 18-12 record and a fourth place finish in the 16-team.
Last season, Bryant Jr averaged 24.1 points for Polish club WKS Śląsk II Wrocław on the way to being named MVP of the Pekao SA I Men’s League.
Bryant was a two-time MEAC Player of the Year, leading Norfolk State to consecutive MEAC Tournament championships in 2021 and 2022. He was named MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player in both of the championship years. At 1,747 points, Bryant Jr is the third all-time leading scorer in the Spartans’ history.
