No, that title is not a typo.
According to police sources, a group of teens with possible gang ties robbed a man of a single sneaker.
The group of teens, some of whom are alleged to have ties to Little Devils of 42nd Street, which is an offshoot of the violent Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua, jumped a man in lower Manhattan and forcibly relieved him of a single sneaker.
The victim was walking in the financial district near Whitehall and Pearl Streets on Thursday, May 15 at around 4pm when a gaggle of about about 15 youngsters approached him, police say.
One of the group members menaced him with a knife, while another brandished a firearm. The group took the man down to the ground and held him there and took one of the sneakers off his feet before running away.
Police are actively on the lookout for the suspects who were last seen fleeing along Whitehall Street. Authorities also did not have information on what type of sneaker was taken.
