The Albany State men’s basketball team continued its impressive mid-season surge on Saturday night, earning an 83–72 road victory over the Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen to improve to 6–5 overall and 5–2 in SIAC play, while extending its winning streak to six games. Behind a sharp shooting night and disciplined execution on both ends of the floor, the Golden Rams controlled the pace and delivered key runs at critical moments to pull away from the Magicians in the second half.

Cameron Evans led all scorers with a standout performance, pouring in 24 points on an ultra-efficient 9-of-12 shooting, including a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. Evans’ perimeter shooting stretched the defense and ignited multiple scoring runs that helped Albany State create separation.

Shakur Poteat added 18 points, knocking down 2-of-6 from three-point range and converting all 4-of-4 free throws, while also contributing four assists and a steal. Joseph Frazier provided a strong two-way effort, finishing with 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals, while going a flawless 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

Albany State shot an impressive 54.5 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from three-point range, showcasing balance and confidence on the offensive end. The Golden Rams also took advantage at the foul line, converting 12-of-14 free throws, a key factor in maintaining control late in the game.

Defensively, Albany State applied consistent pressure, forcing turnovers and limiting second-chance opportunities. Christian Gary added six points and three rebounds in the post, while Kendale Johnson chipped in eight points and four rebounds, helping anchor the Golden Rams’ defensive effort.

LeMoyne-Owen attempted to make a late push, but Albany State responded with timely stops and efficient possessions, preventing the Magicians from cutting into the deficit down the stretch.

The Golden Rams’ composure and shot selection proved decisive as they closed out another road conference win. The victory marks Albany State’s sixth consecutive win, highlighting the team’s growth and chemistry as conference play intensifies.
