Another HBCU standout is taking his talents to the international stage.

Former Coppin State Eagles standout DeMariontay Hall has officially signed a professional basketball contract in Portugal, marking the next chapter in his basketball journey.

Hall’s move overseas represents another success story for the HBCU basketball pipeline, as players from historically Black colleges and universities continue to earn opportunities at the professional level around the world.

During his time with Coppin State, Hall established himself as a versatile forward who impacted the game on both ends of the floor. His combination of size, athleticism, rebounding ability, and defensive versatility made him a valuable piece for the Eagles. Last season Hall led Coppin in scoring (10.6 ppg), rebounding (5.4 rpg), field goal percentage (.524) and blocks (16). His defensive prowess led to Hall being named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions (November 24 and March 9).

Now, Hall will take his talents overseas as he begins his professional career in Portugal, joining the growing list of HBCU athletes making an impact internationally.

The opportunity is also another reminder of the global pathway available for talented HBCU players. From the MEAC to leagues across Europe, former college stars continue to showcase that the talent coming out of Black college basketball belongs on the biggest stages.

Congratulations to DeMariontay Hall as he begins this exciting new chapter.
